Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Wait! You're bringing LIVE BEES to our classroom?
A: Worry not. Our bees are enclosed in a totally sealed, plexiglass observation hive, with minimal chance of bee escape. Your students, your staff, and yourself will all be safe while enjoying the live honeybee experience.
Q: How much space do you need to set up a tipi at our school?
A: We need an area of at least 20 feet long by 20 feet wide by 25 feet tall. We can set up inside the gymnasium or outside on the playground, sports field or front lawn of your school!
Q: What happens if it rains?
A: We can abridge the program if we are not already indoors. We will always make the program the best it can be, and if we have to, we can set up the tipi outside and wait till the rain subsides to take a tour. With bees, if its raining, it wont pose any problems.
Q: Fire? You're gonna build a fire? At SCHOOL??
A: Fire is a primal part of human history, and without fire, humans wouldn't be who we are today. Fire is such an integral part of our program, and the fire that we build can fit in the palm of your hand. We wont build a bonfire in your classroom, we promise! Smoke and a small flame will appear and disappear as part of the primitive fire demonstration, wowing your students, capturing their attention, and keeping them danger-free during the entire event.
Q: We heard that you sometimes bring animals and process them for eating? Can you tell us more about this?
A: A big part of historical, primitive living was the eating of animals. We still eat animals today, but most folks wouldn't recognize the piece of chicken on the styrofoam tray at the grocery store as a living, breathing animal. Very shortly before you saw it, it was alive. A big portion of our program is leaving a lasting memory in your students minds, and awakening them to the reality of what life is about. Eating is a big part of life, and learning where your food comes from is a huge element of this equation.
We can "process" a deer, squirrel, rabbit, or other animal (whatever is available) if you would like that to be a part of your program. Special arrangements will be made, it will be done outside, and no trace of the process will be left at your school once the program is over. If this is something you are interested in, please speak with us directly to accommodate this request!
Q: Can you do 2 or more different programs in one day?
A: We can! However, we need at least 4 weeks notice to plan this type of event. A lot of elements go into planning these events, so just make sure we have plenty of advanced notice so that we can begin making arrangements to make your program as spectacular as possible!
